School of Pharmacy offers free stroke education program in December

Do you know your numbers? High blood pressure and other factors play a role in whether you’re at higher risk for stroke. People may have high blood pressure and not know it.

Learn your numbers and see how you can lessen your risk for stroke and other health issues at upcoming free events offered by the NDSU School of Pharmacy.

Every 40 seconds someone suffers a stroke in the United States. Knowing your numbers can help to build awareness of the risk factors associated with stroke. Participants in the upcoming sessions will receive blood pressure, heart rate and peripheral blood oxygen saturation measurements, complete a stroke risk assessment questionnaire, and receive individualized information about stroke risk and education about the warning signs of stroke.

Program is Free and no pre-registration required. Screening and education take approximately 15 minutes of your time. Attend a session on:

This program is offered by North Dakota State University School of Pharmacy and is funded by a grant from the Dakota Medical Foundation. Learn your numbers and see how you can lessen your risk for stroke and other health issues at this free event.

“The key modifiable risk factor for a stroke is high blood pressure and one in three adults have high blood pressure,” said Marketa Marvanova, PharmD, PhD, and chair of pharmacy practice in the School of Pharmacy at NDSU.
