Celebrating the life of preceptor and former pharmacy faculty member Doreen Sayler

Doreen (Bieswanger) Sayler, 60, Valley City, ND passed away at her home on November 7, 2021. She was a former faculty member in the NDSU Concept Pharmacy, a preceptor for NDSU pharmacy students in Valley City, and a 1985 graduate of NDSU.

Faculty in the NDSU Concept Pharmacy provide students with hands-on learning experiences critical to their success as future pharmacists and Sayler helped many NDSU pharmacy students in her previous role in the School of Pharmacy.

Sayler opened Central Avenue Pharmacy in Valley City, North Dakota in 1989. She received the Health Mart Community Excellence award and other business awards, as well.

“Preceptors such as Doreen Sayler help prepare future pharmacists,” said Charles D. Peterson, dean of the School of Pharmacy and College of Health Professions at NDSU. “She provided students with professional experiences that will prepare them to become members of the healthcare team. Our deepest condolences to all who knew her.”

Sayler actively participated in many community organizations and was recognized with the Hi-Line Award and Melvin Jones Fellow Award. She also helped many children through fostering in the community.
