Dr. Amy Werremeyer was named Incoming President-Elect of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists to serve on the 2022-2024 Board of Directors. Werremeyer is professor and chair of the NDSU Department of Pharmacy Practice. She will serve with nine other board members who are leaders in the field of pharmacy.
CPNP President Robert Haight noted, “These qualified CPNP members are highly deserving of this recognition by their peers and will make excellent contributions to the future of CPNP and the profession of psychiatric pharmacy. We look forward to integrating their insights and experience into the Board.”
Professor Werremeyer, PharmD., BCCP, was named chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice in 2020. She joined the faculty at NDSU in 2006. She also served as Vice Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice from 2013 to 2016 and as Interim Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
Werremeyer’s expertise includes:
- Upstream prevention of opioid related harms
- Stigma related to substance use disorders and mental illness
- Patient education and medication experiences with psychotropic medications
- Photovoice
- Psychopharmacology
The professional pharmacy (PharmD) program at NDSU is provided through the Department of Pharmacy Practice and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Pharmacy Practice focuses on the clinical application of pharmacy and patient-focused care. Pharmaceutical Sciences focuses on providing a basic science foundation. Graduate MS and PhD programs are available, as well as dual degree programs including PharmD/MBA, PharmD/MPH, and PharmD/PhD.
The College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) represents over 2,000 health care professionals who specialize in treating patients living with psychiatric, neurologic, and/or substance use disorders.
