Safety Awareness Notices

Welcome to the North Dakota State University Police and Safety Office Personal Awareness Notices site. Included here are public safety awareness messages for events happening within proximity of the main NDSU campus as well as within buildings owned and operated by NDSU within the city of Fargo. They are intended to alert our campus community to situations which may require awareness on everyone’s part in order to maintain personal safety. The list includes both notices of Clery crimes occurring within our on campus area as well as relevant public notices issued by the city of Fargo. Data for the current and prior academic year is included in this summary. Crimes that may trigger a message include criminal homicide, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, arson or any other crime that the University feels may pose an ongoing threat to the university community.

April 13, 2024 - Burglary

Timely Warning - Burglary in Stockbridge Hall

In the overnight hours of 4/12 to 4/13 a burglary took place in Stockbridge Hall. Suspect(s) made entry into an unlocked, unoccupied room and took items of value. 

Please remember to lock your doors and windows and alert police if you see anything suspicious.

April 3, 2024 - Sexual Assault

Timely Warning - Sexual Assault

Dear Community Members,

On 04/03/2024 NDSU Police were informed of a sexual assault. It was reported to have occurred in a residence hall on the NDSU Campus during the early morning hours. The report indicated the suspect and the reporting individual are acquaintances.

The reporting individual has been offered resources and options.

While circumstances around sexual assaults can vary, it is important to emphasize that such acts of sexual violence are never the victim's fault. The blame lies solely with the perpetrator(s).

Should you have any information that might aid in this investigation or if you observed any criminal or suspicious activity, please contact the NDSU Police Department at 701-231-8998.  You can also provide information anonymously by using the NDSU Police "Text-A-Tip" line at (701) 526-6006.

People's safety and well-being at NDSU are of paramount importance to the University.  If you or someone you know has been the victim of a crime, please seek help and resources from:

October 2, 2023 - Motor Vehicle Theft

Timely Warning - Motor Vehicle Theft

TIMELY WARNING MESSAGE FROM NDSU.

A motor vehicle theft took place involving a 2014 Silver Chevy Impala which was stolen from the UVS parking lot between 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 29, and 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1.

University Police are continuing the investigation of this theft.

An aggravated assault was reported to have taken place on the NDSU campus overnight at approximately 3 a.m. near Ceres Hall.

A motor vehicle theft took place involving a red 2015 Buick Enclave which was stolen from the T parking lot between Monday night, July 10, 2023 at 7:30 PM and this morning, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 6:54 AM.

University Police are continuing the investigation into this theft.

November 20, 2022 Fargo Police Press Release

Fargo Police Respond to a Call for Shots Fired

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA – On Monday, November 21, 2022 The Fargo Police Department (FPD) held a press conference to discuss the deaths of Jaquan Gatewood and Kierre Davies.

During the press conference, FPD Chief Dave Zibolski provided an overview into the investigation related to the deaths of 28-year-old Gatewood and 27-year-old Davies.

At 3:17 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 The FPD responded to a call for shots fired within the 1000 block of 15th Street North. Gatewood and Davies, both Fargo residents, were found deceased with gunshot wounds.

The FPD continues to investigate the cause of these deaths and what led up to the incident. FPD has conducted several witness interviews and is still seeking additional witnesses who may have key information.

Chief Dave Zibolski commented, “We are confident that everyone involved in this incident was familiar with one another and that this was not the act of a random individual. While we do not believe there is any other danger to the community, our department will continue to investigate this incident until all leads are exhausted or until we identify and arrest any suspect(s).”

This investigation is on-going and no further information is immediately available.

October 8, 2022 - Stolen Vehicle

A motor vehicle theft took place involving a silver 2006 Infinity G35 4 door sedan which was stolen from the FA parking lot sometime between Tuesday September 27, 2022 and today Saturday Oct 8, 2022 at 7:10 PM.

University Police are continuing the investigation into this theft.

A motor vehicle theft took place involving a 2012 Gray Hyundai Sonata 4 door sedan which was stolen from the Niskanen 1 parking lot sometime between 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, and 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30th.

On 8/27/2022 NDSU Police were informed of a sexual assault. It was reported to have occurred in a residence hall on the NDSU Campus overnight around 1:30 a.m. The report indicated the suspect and the reporting individual met earlier in the evening at an off campus location.

The reporting individual has been offered resources on and off campus.

While circumstances around sexual assaults can vary, it is important to emphasize that such acts of sexual violence are never the victim's fault. The blame lies solely with the perpetrator(s).
