Public Health Certificates
Public Health Certificate Program Information
Admissions requirements for the certificate programs, in addition to Graduate School requirements, include:
- Letter of intent
- Official transcripts
- 3.0 GPA for undergraduate and any graduate coursework
- English Language test scores meet minimum for public health program

Choose from three options
General Public Health option
The General option includes the following 12 credits and can be completed in one academic year.
- PH 704 Public Health Management and Policy: 3 Credits, Fall
- PH 706 Essentials of Epidemiology:3 Credits, Spring
- PH 741 Social and Behavioral Sciences in Public Health: 3 Credits, Summer and Fall
- PH 745 Community Health Leadership: 3 Credits, Spring
Infection Prevention option
The Infection Prevention option includes the following 12 required credits.
- PH 704 Public Health Management and Policy: 3 Credits, Fall
- PH 706 Essentials of Epidemiology: 3 Credits, Spring
- PH 735 Principles of Infectious Diseases I: 3 Credits, Fall
- PH 736 Principles of Infectious Diseases II: 3 Credits, Spring
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) option
The MCH option requires at least 9 credits and can be completed in one academic year. The curriculum includes:
One foundational MPH course:
- PH 704 Public Health Management and Policy: 3 Credits, Fall
OR - PH 745 Community Health Leadership: 3 Credits, Spring
Required courses:
- PH 781 Foundations in Maternal and Child Health: 3 Credits, Spring
- PH 782 Introduction to Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology: 2 Credits, Fall
At least one credit of an approved Maternal and Child Health elective:
- PH 761 Injury Prevention: 1 Credit, Fall
OR - PH 785 Women's Health: 2 Credits, Spring
