A deep dive into a topic among leaders from many perspectives creates an opportunity for change.
Murphy Anderson (MPH ’21), vaccine communications project manager at the NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education, will participate in such an opportunity. Anderson was selected as a 2022 Health Fellow to attend Aspen Ideas: Health 2022, in Aspen, Colorado from June 22-25. The fellowship covers her tuition for the event and lodging.
As a 2022 Health Fellow, Anderson will attend the Aspen Institute's Ideas: Health conference, joining a community of leaders, innovators, and advocates to explore bold approaches to better health for all. She will engage in panel discussions and in-depth interviews on themes that speak to this unique moment in history with the global pandemic and additional health challenges. Anderson will represent North Dakota and the NDSU Department of Public Health by bringing her knowledge and experience to the conversation.
“Attendees have exceptional opportunities to interact with public officials, artists, scientists, authors, business executives, scholars, economists, foreign policy specialists, entrepreneurs, and leaders of all kinds,” according to the Aspen Institute website.
Speakers for 2022 include: Rosalind Brewer, CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance; Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Linda Villarosa, contributing writer, NY Times Magazine; Jerome Adams, executive director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue and former U.S. Surgeon General; Deborah Birx, chief medical/science advisor, ActivePure Technology, and many more.
Murphy Anderson is part of a team at the NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education (CIRE) that provides ongoing factual information about vaccines and their impacts on the health of populations and individuals.
CIRE’s goal is to have no one in its region suffer from a vaccine-preventable disease. The Center is committed to providing evidence-based information and services that improve the health and wellbeing of those living in North Dakota and the surrounding region.
CIRE is housed under the NDSU Department of Public Health which offers a range of degree options in graduate, dual degree, undergraduate, certificate and accelerated programs. Classes are offered both on-campus and through distance learning technology.
