Study abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity whose benefits go far beyond academic learning.  A minimum of one full semester is required for all Spanish majors, but the department strongly encourages all its students to experience cross-cultural linkages first-hand.  Those who study in another culture find that they gain self-confidence, flexibility, perseverance, and an appreciation of the inter-connectedness of the world and the diversity of human experience.

A variety of direct exchange programs are available with universities abroad.  Individual programs can be designed in consultation with an adviser.   Whichever approach you prefer, it is best to begin by talking with your adviser or instructor in the Spanish and Global Studies department.
