Recommended Annual Trainings for County-paid Extension Support Staff
NDSU requires all employees to complete several training courses annually, two of which Extension Administration recommends that county-paid Extension support staff members also complete each year: Baseline Safety and Equal Opportunity/Title IX. They’re recommended for two reasons:
- Workplace safety pertains to everyone on staff. And because we work in teams, it is valuable for county support staff members to know what NDSU requires of agents in regard to safety procedures, e.g. when and how an agent needs to file an incident report, etc.
- Every member of the staff, regardless of their source of pay, has a role in being knowledgeable about and preventing harassment in work relationships and programs.
Both trainings are available at https://www.ndsu.edu/hr/training/annual_training/. Click on the training title to be taken to the North Dakota University System (NDUS) training site where you will log in using your NDSU Employee ID and an NDUS login and password.
In addition, we all have a role in preserving the resources of the state and the NDUS. All benefited NDUS employees are required to complete an annual Theft/Fraud/Code of Conduct training. While county-paid Extension support staff are not required to complete this training, it is recommended that they view the video within the training module to understand the expectations for working as good stewards as part of the NDSU Extension Service team. This training and video is available only for a certain period of time each fall. Staff members are informed of its availability by email.
