Schedule a Visit
Exploring a graduate program firsthand and meeting faculty and students is essential to determining if it's the right fit for you. We are delighted to arrange your visit to NDSU.
In our efforts to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of career possibilities in the field of Chemistry and Biochemistry, we invite you to participate in a virtual (via Zoom) and/or in-person visit to our department at North Dakota State University.
During your visit, you will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one meetings with faculty members leading research in your areas of interest, as well as interact with their teams of graduate and undergraduate students. You'll gain insights into our Ph.D. degree programs, explore our facilities, learn about our competitive research programs, and discover the career pathways of our graduates.
For more information contact Dr. Uwe Burghaus, Chair of Graduate Admissions.
Weekend Visits by Admitted Students
Students who have received an acceptance letter will be invited to attend a visit weekend. There are no strings attached – we do not require that you accept our offer to attend this event. The purpose of the visit is to give students a broader sense of research opportunities available in the department.
- Prior to the weekend, each student will be asked to forward the names of 4-5 professors they would like to meet with during their stay.
- Visit weekends typically begin on Friday morning and conclude on a Saturday afternoon.
- Students will be given an overview of the curriculum and requirements. They will also have the chance to meet the faculty and their research team and tour the facilities.
October Visit Day
Every October, any student who is considering graduate school in the areas of Chemistry and Biochemistry is invited to visit the department to learn about our graduate programs, admission, and application instructions.
- Explore our program without commitment. There's no requirement to apply beforehand; the department will cover local hotel charges for your stay of up to two nights and provide up to $100 towards your transportation expenses.
- Learn about the research conducted within the Department by meeting with our faculty members.
- Tour our Chemistry/Biochemistry research facilities and new chemistry building.
- Meet with our graduate students and learn about career opportunities for graduates.
