Marc Wallman

Vice President for Information Technology

Marc Wallman has served as vice president for information technology since October 2014. Marc leads the NDSU Information Technology Division in efforts to deliver core solutions and propel innovation to benefit teaching, learning and outreach. He engages with those who foster vision and strategic discussions of information technology-enabled solutions, and leads all operations of the IT Division to support the mission of North Dakota State University and other institutions within the North Dakota University System that are served by the division.

Marc has more than 15 years of leadership experience in higher education information technology. In 2012, he was named interim vice president for Information Technology at NDSU. Before that, he served as the assistant vice president for the Enterprise Computing and Infrastructure Department, director of information technology infrastructure services, and senior system administrator, all at NDSU. Before joining NDSU, Marc worked in the central information technology department at the University of California at Berkeley.

Marc has been active in several regional and national professional organizations. From 2014 to 2016, he served as president of the Northern Tier Network Consortium, an organization that enables higher education institutions and research centers across the northern tier of the northwestern United States to connect to the national research and education network operated by Internet2. He currently represents North Dakota on the consortium’s steering committee and participates in the Internet2 Network Architecture Policy and Operations Program Advisory Group.

Marc holds a master’s degree in computer science from NDSU, a master’s degree in theology from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

Jason Blosser

Assistant Vice President for Information Technology Services

As the assistant vice president for Information Technology Services, Jason leads a talented group of professionals in the areas of Desktop Support, the IT Help Desk, and Learning and Applied Innovation. ITS supports NDSU's mission as a student-focused, land grant, research university in an environment of collaboration, teamwork and individual initiative. Jason serves North Dakota State University, the N.D. University System, and the state of N.D. with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, leading IT organizations, teams and initiatives involving a broad range of enterprise services and technologies. His diversity of expertise spans the southwest, east coast and northern plains.

Steve Sobiech

Assistant Vice President for Enterprise Computing & Infrastructure

Steve provides leadership, planning, implementation and support for a wide range of IT services and resources – including networks, servers, applications, databases, storage and end-user experience – to effectively meet the overall research and business needs of the university.

Khang Hoang

Executive Director of the Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology (CCAST)

Khang received his Ph.D. in physics from Michigan State University. He is an accomplished researcher in physics, chemistry, and materials science and has over two decades of experience with high-performance computing. Before joining NDSU, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California–Santa Barbara and then a postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. His research interests include computational modeling, theory, and design of materials for energy storage and conversion, photonics, optoelectronics, and quantum information applications. As a research computing professional, he advises and trains other researchers on the applications of high-performance computing in various research fields and works to develop computing resources to meet the needs of the research community. At CCAST, he leads a diverse team of professionals responsible for developing, managing, and delivering efficient, high-performance compute and research data storage resources and services to researchers at NDSU and beyond.
