NDSU researchers 
take new approach 
in cancer fight


Kalpana Katti wouldn’t call the project she leads a miracle. But it could be for patients with cancer. Katti and her colleagues at NDSU are scientists – chemists, engineers, pharmaceutical researchers. They work each day in nondescript labs, designing experiments, testing ideas, searching for a breakthrough. They are collaborating to significantly reduce testing time and costs for new cancer treatments, to develop new cancer drugs and drug delivery systems, accelerate patient-specific, targeted treatments and to ultimately cure breast and prostate cancer. read more >



Students get hands-on 
financial analyst experience
Students in the College of Business have an opportunity to play the role of Wall Street financial analysts through the CFA Institute Research Challenge — a hands-on learning experience that involves financial research, teamwork and global competitions. The students research, analyze and report on a company as if they are practicing professionals. read more >

Cybersecurity research helps prepare NDSU student for in-demand job
Ayushi Saxena wants to work in counter terrorism. The NDSU senior has wanted a career in this field since homemade bombs killed three people and severely injured hundreds at the Boston Marathon in 2013. Saxena’s goal is to make a global difference. To do that, she’ll need an array of skills. She already had some of them, like success in mathematics, curiosity and tenaciousness. But others were developed through classes and hands-on research projects at NDSU.  read more >


Foundation and Alumni Association presents awards


Recipients of the 2018 Alumni Awards and the Partner in Excellence Award were honored  Thursday, April

Gregg Halverson, BS ’71, animal science, honorary doctorate ’12, received the Alumni Achievement Award, which honors alumni who have achieved exceptional distinction in their professional field.

Chris Hawley, BA ’04, architecture, BA environmental design, received the Horizon Award, which honors graduates of the past 15 years who have distinguished themselves in the profession or service to the community.

Barry Batcheller, BS ’77, electrical and electronics engineering, honorary doctorate ’10, received the Heritage Award, which recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding support of time and talent to NDSU projects or activities.

Bob Heller, BS ’68, industrial engineering, received the Service Award, which recognizes dedicated service in fundraising and outstanding contributions to NDSU and the Foundation and Alumni Association.

Dr. Ann Rasmusson, BS ’79, human nutrition, received the Henry L. Bolley Academic Achievement Award, which honors alumni who have attained noted achievement in eductation.

Sanford Health was acknowledged with the Partner in Excellence Award, which recognizes a business or organization that has provided outstanding support to the university.  read more >

Groundbreaking held for major 
Sudro Hall expansion
Groundbreaking on a six-story, 74,000-square-foot addition to Sudro Hall was held Thursday, April 19. The privately funded project includes clinical and interdisciplinary simulation labs, facilities for collaborative learning and research, a health sciences library, and enhanced technology to prepare students to meet the region’s growing need for health care professionals.  read more >
