Columnist to present at NDSU

Rachel Toor, associate professor of English at Eastern Washington University and columnist for The Chronicle of Higher Education and Running Times, will be at NDSU Tuesday, Oct. 15, to discuss bad habits that often make academic writing difficult to read.

Toor will lead two sessions titled “Thinking Well, Writing Well: How Smart Academics Write to Get Published.” Both sessions are open to all faculty members. The first session will run from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and an identical session will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union. Registration for each of these events is requested and can be completed at www.ndsu.edu/pubweb/forward2/registration/event_20131015.html.

Toor was an editor at Oxford and Duke University Presses and teaches creative writing in the Master of Fine Arts program at Eastern Washington University, Spokane. She is the author of three books and writes a monthly column on writing and publishing for The Chronicle of Higher Education.

NDSU FORWARD is hosting her visit.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
