Painting professor to exhibit at Chadron State College

Bromley

Kimble Bromley, professor of painting, has been invited by Chadron State College to exhibit his paintings in the college’s Memorial Union Galleries.

The central theme of Bromley’s work in the exhibition is a sub-series of his “Moby-Dick” series, which is showing at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo. The ideas for the work are derived from the book, “In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex,” which illustrates the true story of a whale that sunk the whaling ship Essex. The story influenced Herman Melville to write “Moby-Dick.”

A total of 14 paintings will be displayed, each created from an event in the book. The paintings become metaphors for life’s everyday struggles, Bromley said.

The exhibit opens Oct. 23 and runs through Nov. 15. Chadron State College is located in Chadron, Neb.
