Six Bison football players voted to All-Academic Team

Six NDSU players were on the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic Team announced Dec. 4, following a vote of the league's sports information directors.

Senior nose guard Ryan Drevlow, from Gwinner, N.D., was named to the first team. He has a 3.69 cumulative grade-point average in electrical engineering.

NDSU's second team selections were right defensive end Kyle Emanuel, fullback Andrew Grothmann, outside linebacker Esley Thorton, defensive tackle Danny Luecke and wide receiver Ryan Smith.



Emanuel, a junior from Schuyler, Neb., has a 3.59 GPA in construction management. Grothmann, a senior from Hillsboro, N.D., has a 3.58 GPA in agricultural economics. Thorton, a junior from Bismarck, N.D., has a 3.89 GPA in exercise science.



Drevlow, Emanuel, Grothmann and Thorton last month were voted to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 first team and are eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors.

 Luecke, a senior from Fargo, has a 3.84 GPA in mathematics education and Smith, a senior from Wahpeton, N.D., has a 3.57 GPA in business administration.



Junior free safety Christian Dudzik from Omaha, Neb., and junior wide receiver Zach Vraa from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., were named honorable mentions.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
