Libraries speaker series to feature North Dakota climatologist

Akyuz

Adnan Akyüz, North Dakota state climatologist and NDSU professor of climatological practice, is scheduled to discuss the facts, myths and misconceptions about North Dakota’s climate and its place within climate change on Friday, Jan. 17, at 4 p.m. in NDSU’s Main Library Weber Reading room. The title of Akyüz’s presentation is “North Dakota Beautiful: Climate Perspective.”

Akyüz also is director of the North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network, in which he oversees the operation of the agricultural network of 72 automated weather stations. He is a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and member of the American Meteorological Society, American Association of State Climatologists, National Weather Association and North Dakota Academy of Science.

His funded research projects include climate change impact on growing seasons and crop selection in the Northern Plains and the El Niño Southern Oscillation’s impact on North Dakota climate.

The presentation is part of a monthly speaker series offered by the NDSU Libraries.
