Assistant professor named to National Pork Board marketing committee

The National Pork Board named David Newman, assistant professor of animal sciences, chair of its Domestic Marketing Committee.

The committee typically oversees approximately half of the national Pork Checkoff Program budget, or about $28 million in spending.

As the committee chair, Newman will attend National Pork Board meetings and give input on behalf of the Domestic Marketing Committee during the budget process, oversee committee meetings, and serve as the a link between the producer committee and staff.

Newman is involved in research, teaching and Extension Service activities related to swine production. He earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2005 and a doctorate in animal sciences from NDSU in 2009.
