Expanded Power of One campaign kicks off

NDSU’s annual faculty and staff campaign to fund gifts to enhance student success kicks off Feb. 18. The Power of One fund drive enters its 10th year and now will be open year round.

“By expanding the time frame of the campaign, we hope it will allow you the convenience to make a gift when it is the best time for you,” the campaign co-chairs wrote in a letter.

The campaign features more than 1,600 funds and scholarships, allowing supporters to contribute to their area of choice at the university. More than 5,000 donors have contributed more than $2.8 million in the program’s previous nine years. This year donations may be completed via payroll deduction, credit card or a paper pledge card.

Co-chairs for the 2014 campaign are Bill Law, assistant director of the Division of Performing Arts, and Kim Matzke-Ternes, administrative assistant of finance and administration.

Another addition to the campaign is a Student Philanthropy Day scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tables will be set up in Minard Hall, Richard H. Barry Hall and the Memorial Union where students can learn about how funds for scholarships and endowments are originated. Bows will be placed on every building that has benefited from philanthropy on campus.

News and updates, including activities and goal statuses, will be available at www.ndsufoundation.com/facultyandstaff.

“The many benefits on campus for students, faculty, staff and facilities provided by your generous giving will be highlighted throughout the year,” the chairs said. “Your gift says you believe NDSU’s mission of being a student-focused, land-grant research university and displays your commitment to the students, alumni, faculty and staff.”
