NDSU doctoral student receives green chemistry award

Jing Zhang, an NDSU doctoral student studying organometallic chemistry, has received the prestigious Green Chemistry Travel Award. She will attend the 247th American Chemical Society national meeting scheduled March 16-20 in Dallas. Zhang will present her research on greener methodologies for chemical synthesis using ruthenium-based catalysis.

The award is presented by the Green Chemistry Institute, which is a nonprofit organization that encourages individuals to develop awareness for green chemical issues through educational development and training. The institute consists of students, researchers and educators examining ways to produce a green, sustainable future through chemistry and engineering.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
