A paper written by NDSU personnel was published in the March 2014 issue of Maritime Economics and Logistics.

The paper, titled “A coupled linear programming model with geospatial dynamic trip assignment for global-scale intermodal transportation,” was written by EunSu Lee, Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute research associate; Peter G. Oduor, associate professor of geosciences; Kambiz Farahmand, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering; and Denver Tolliver, Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute director.

The article shows the development of a geospatial origin-destination model that determines and optimizes large-scale container flows from U.S. trade partners to inland markets within the lower 48 states. The model helps identify alternative routes for global supply chains.
