Accounting professor recognized for cloud-based active learning study

Klamm

Bonnie Klamm, professor of accounting, co-wrote a paper that recently won the 2014 Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Instructional Award.

The award is given to outstanding submissions of material for delivering Microsoft Dynamics-oriented instruction in higher education classrooms. It was presented as part of the 2014 Worldwide Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Preconference March 2-3 in Atlanta.

The paper, titled “Enterprise System Case Using Microsoft Dynamics GP via myGPcloud,” is a case study using a cloud-provider for access to an enterprise system, providing a comprehensive set of exercises to students and a complete set of materials to support adoption by instructors. The case offers students an active-learning experience.

“After completing the case, students report outcomes of increases in accounting information system knowledge, system navigation skills and the ability to learn on their own,” Klamm said.

Co-writers included Marcia Watson, associate professor of accountancy at Mississippi State University; Joann Segovia, associate professor of accounting at Winona State University; and Mark Lehman, lecturer at Mississippi State University.

NDSU is a member of the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance, which consists of more than 1,000 universities and colleges worldwide.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
