NDSU to host physics symposium

NDSU is set to host an Undergraduate Physics Research Symposium Friday, April 11, from 1-5 p.m. at Ag and Biosystems Engineering room 208 and South Engineering room 216. Students from NDSU, Winona State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead and the University of North Dakota will give presentations on research they have conducted.

According to organizer Warren Christensen, assistant professor of physics, 13 students will present their research and an estimated 30-40 persons will attend, including faculty, graduate students and other undergraduate students. Scott Wood, dean of science and mathematics, will give a welcome address.

β€œA symposium of this type creates an environment where undergraduate students from the region who are engaged in original research can showcase their work and interact with their peers,” Christensen said. β€œIt provides them an opportunity to engage in the practice of professional researchers by disseminating their research through talks and poster presentations.”

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
