AnnaLisa Nash has been named export control officer with the NDSU Office for Research and Creative Activity. She begins her new duties May 29.
She will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing an effective export compliance program for the university, as well as provide guidance and consultation to faculty, staff and administration on decisions regarding import or export impact.
Nash has more than 10 years of experience working with compliance and enforcement issues, complex statutory work and legislative and governmental affairs.
Kelly A. Rusch, NDSU vice president for research and creative activity, said, “Mrs. Nash’s background and work experience with regulatory and compliance issues will provide a very strong foundation for building a robust export control program at NDSU.”
Nash started her law career as an attorney at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Washington, D.C., handling intricate compliance and enforcement claims relating to government contracting and foreign military sales. She then was trial attorney in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Chief Counsel at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she concentrated on complex statutory and regulatory work, advising senior government officials and management on interpretation and compliance and represented the agency to Congress, other federal agencies, and private and public groups.
Recently, Nash worked for a regulatory and compliance firm based in Washington, D.C., advising clients in the domestic and foreign automotive manufacturing industries on both compliance issues and on opportunities to affect the legislative process.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University, and her law degree from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. She serves as an officer on the board of directors of Thrivent Financial in Fargo.
