NDSU has been selected by a national organization as one of nearly 100 colleges and universities in the country to be a lead institution in civic engagement. 

As a participating institution in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Lead Initiative, the university will continue to encourage students’ civic development through thoughtful community partnerships, engaging leadership opportunities and democratic participation. The association is the leading voice for the student affairs profession.

NDSU submitted to the association a proposal during the selection process highlighting its newly created Community Engagement Forums. The five forums scheduled throughout the year will cover a variety of social and civic issues impacting local, national and global communities.

The goal of the initiative is to inspire citizens to take action toward addressing societal problems impacting our communities by introducing participants to a diverse array of civic issues and ideas, and providing an opportunity for discussion, planning and action. The forums are open to the public and will be held on NDSU’s campus. The first Community Engagement Forum is scheduled for October 14 and will be discussing the question, “Does what we eat impact our community?”
