Interim vice president to lead Northern Tier Network Consortium

Wallman

Marc Wallman, NDSU interim vice president for information technology, recently was elected to serve a one-year term as president of the Northern Tier Network Consortium.

The consortium enables higher education institutions and research centers across the northern tier of the northwestern United States to connect to the national research and education network operated by Internet2. The mission of the consortium is to develop and sustain advanced networking capabilities and shared cyberinfrastructure to support the educational, research and economic vitality of the region.

Wallman was elected during the consortium’s annual meeting, recently held at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Representatives from the 12-member consortium gathered for two days of planning and discussion of ongoing Northern Tier Network activities and future opportunities.

Matt Riley, chief information officer at University of Montana, was elected vice president. Kim Owen, advanced applications and outreach coordinator at NDSU, was re-elected as secretary and treasurer for the consortium.
