Five NDSU football players were voted to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 team announced Nov. 6 by the College Sports Information Directors of America.


Quarterback Carson Wentz, wide receiver Zach Vraa, center Jesse Hinz, outside linebacker Esley Thorton and defensive end Kyle Emanuel advance to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America honors to be announced later this month.


Wentz, a junior from Bismarck, North Dakota, has a 4.00 grade-point average in health and physical education. 
Vraa, a senior from Rosemount, Minnesota, has a 3.51 GPA in sports management. 
Hinz, a senior from Beatrice, Nebraska, has a 3.71 GPA in criminal justice and Spanish. 
Thorton, a senior from Bismarck, North Dakota, has a 3.91 GPA in exercise science. 
Emanuel, a senior from Schuyler, Nebraska, has a 3.66 GPA in construction management.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
