Prakash Mathew, retired vice president for student affairs and former interim athletic director at NDSU, has been selected to receive the 2015 Scott Goodnight Award for Outstanding Performance as a Dean, to be presented by National Association of Student Personnel Administrators-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Mathew and the other national award winners will be honored in March at the organization's annual conference in New Orleans. 

The award is given to a senior student affairs officer who has demonstrated sustained professional service in student affairs work, high-level competency in administrative skills, innovative response in meeting students' varied and emerging needs, effectiveness in developing junior staff members and leadership in community and university affairs.

Mathew was NDSU vice president for student affairs from 2006-14. He was responsible for 375 staff members, 780 student employees and a budget of more than $50 million. He led and managed more than 20 departments in three units including Enrollment Management, Student Life and Student Wellness.

In addition, he was asked to step in as interim athletic director in 2014.

Mathew has been active in National Association of Student Personnel Administrators-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, serving in leadership positions on the 4-West regional board, national board, foundation board and as a Pillar of the Profession.

Mathew also received the Blue Key Doctor of Service Award and NDSU named the Mathew Living Learning Center in his honor.
