Communication research center grand opening planned

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony are planned for NDSU's new Communication Research and Training Center. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, from 2-4 p.m. in Minard Hall, room 338B22. Light refreshments will be served.

The center's mission is to make communication research accessible to people who can use it, including businesses and communication professionals.

Pamela Lutgen-Sandvik, center director and associate professor of communication, said the center will apply translated research to real-world scenarios.

Lutgen-Sandvik works with doctoral students Nancy DiTunnariello and Renee Bourdeaux to transform social scientific findings that might otherwise stay in academic settings and make the information available to the public in everyday language.

"The center works with interested parties to improve and enhance communication skills, and applies communication research methods and study findings to solve pressing communication problems. It is committed to improving people’s lives through engagement with research," said Lutgen-Sandvik. "The center’s team issues a warm invitation to our NDSU family members and hopes you will all stop by for the ribbon cutting."

Representatives from the Chamber of Fargo Moorhead West Fargo will participate in the ribbon-cutting event.
