NDSU athletic director Matt Larsen announced the promotion of Justin Swanson to assistant athletic director for marketing and fan engagement.

Swanson started at NDSU as the director of marketing and promotions in May 2012 after four seasons as an assistant athletic director at South Dakota State University. He also spent one year in marketing and promotions at Maine.

"Justin has played an integral role in the attendance growth across all our ticketed sports," Larsen said. "I look forward to his leadership in the marketing area as we get closer to opening the new Sanford Health Athletic Center."

Swanson's primary duties include the development and execution of the overall athletic department marketing plan and managing creative efforts involving television, print, website and radio advertising. He coordinates game day promotional activities and video board content.

An undergraduate and graduate assistant at NDSU from 2001-07, he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in health, nutrition and exercise science at NDSU.
