Faculty member named computing Distinguished Speaker

Kahn

Samee Khan, NDSU associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been appointed to a three-year term as a Distinguished Speaker by the Association of Computing Machinery.

Association president Alexander L. Wolf said the Distinguished Speaker program "is a highly visible way that ACM, through the appointment of leading researchers, engages with emerging professionals, students and, in some cases, the public on a range of topics in computing."

Khan joined the NDSU faculty in 2008. He earned a bachelor's degree at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, Pakistan, and a doctorate in computer science at the University of Texas, Arlington.

Khan also is a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and British Computer Society. He is an associate editor of IEEE Access, IEEE Cloud Computing, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials and IEEE IT Pro.

His research focuses on cloud, grid, cluster and big data computing; wired and wireless networks; power systems; and optical networks.
