'Shadows of Liberty' film presentation, panel discussion scheduled

The documentary film "Shadows of Liberty" is scheduled to be shown to students and the public Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. in Minard Hall room 116. The 90-minute film examines corporate influence on media with particular attention to the censorship of news stories highlighting government abuses. 

A panel discussion will follow the film. Scheduled panelists include Mark Meister, professor and chair of communication; Jack Zaleski, Forum of Fargo-Moorhead opinion editor; Jim Shaw, former KVRR TV news director; and Scott Hoaby, local political scientist.

Nick Bauroth, associate professor of criminal justice and political science, will moderate the panel.

The event is free and open to the public.
