Three NDSU employees have been recognized with the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service.
Jeffrey Erickson, Judith Moe and Mary Power were among six state employees recognized for their dedication and contributions to the people of North Dakota. Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley presented the awards during a luncheon at the state capitol Sept. 14 kicking off State Employee Recognition Week.
“North Dakota’s state employees are the best in the nation, and these recognized individuals represent the outstanding work that is performed by state employees every day across our state,” Gov. Jack Dalrymple said. “We applaud them for their exemplary service and faithful dedication to North Dakota and its citizens.”
Erickson was recognized in the Technical and Paraprofessional category. He is an electrical equipment technician with the NDSU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. "This was most unexpected," Erickson said. " I feel very honored to be selected from so many other more capable than I, and I will remember this the rest of my days."
Moe was honored in the Office Support category. She is an administrative assistant with the NDSU agribusiness and applied economics department.
"As a state employee, excellence in public service should always be our goal," Moe said. "We need to focus on ways to make our organization a quality institution and an enjoyable place for students, employees, and visitors. I have been fortunate to work with a great group of people and I feel this is more of a 'team' award than a 'me' award."
Power was recognized in the Trades and Crafts category. She is a cook and former back-of-house supervisor for the NDSU West Dining Center.
Other recognized state employees included Tim Wiedrich, Department of Health, Bismarck; Cindy Sanford, Job Service North Dakota, Williston; and David Mattern, Office of Management and Budget, Bismarck.
The award recipients were nominated by their peers and selected by a committee of judges who reviewed and scored the nominations. Nominees were rated on their job performance, contributions to their department, commitment to customer service, working relationship with fellow workers and involvement in their community.
