Communication faculty named Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Platt

Carrie Anne Platt, associate professor of communication, was named the North Dakota Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Communication Speech and Theatre Association of North Dakota.

The organization is comprised of high school and college instructors from across the state.

In conjunction with her recognition, Platt conducted a seminar on teaching at the association’s convention Sept. 16-18, in Mandan, North Dakota. Her talk focused on how instructors can encourage a growth mindset in the classroom.

Platt joined NDSU in 2008. She earned her bachelor's degree at Carrol College in Helena, Montana; her master's degree in communication from Wake Forest University; and her doctorate in communication from the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on rhetorical aspects of technology.
