The Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark has invited Regin Schwaen, associate professor of architecture, to exhibit at the 50-year anniversary exhibition of the school.

Schwaen was asked to submit a film that would elaborate on "Engaging through architecture." His 10-minute documentary features the Cloud House, Schwaen's home in Fargo that has its 1919 framework covered with corrugated steel, cedar planks and concrete.

The work was recorded and edited by photographer Meghan Duda, with music by Brian Rasmussen.

“Meghan Duda and I are in good company. Architects such as Daniel Libeskind, Diller & Scofidio, MVRDV, Peter Zumthor, Zaha Hadid and Snøhetta, together with many others were invited to make a film for this exhibition," Schwaen said. "I first thought I was selected because I am an alumnus from the school, but that was not the case. All contributors to this exhibition have been of vital importance to the school’s development, ranging from alternative school of architecture to internationally acknowledged academic institution, and that made me quite happy. It might be my explorations and innovative approach how to cast concrete that changed the curriculum and research at the Aarhus School of Architecture."

Schwaen joined the NDSU faculty in 2007. He earned his master's degree in architecture at the Aarhus School of Architecture, and a technical degree in building and construction at the Technical College in Horsens, Denmark. He has seven years of professional practice and more than 20 years experience in architectural education.

The exhibition runs through Nov. 15.
