Work is on track for NDSU’s new STEM Classroom and Lab Building to be ready for spring semester classes in January. STEM is the commonly used term for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The state-of-the-art instruction building is being constructed to address the classroom and laboratory needs of NDSU students. Spaces in the building will be devoted exclusively to labs and traditional science and engineering classrooms as well as modular, flexible classrooms that will seat a variety of class sizes.

Some recent construction highlights include:

•     Most of the site work has been completed on the south side of the building.

•     Drywall is in place on the first floor, and the corridors on the floor are ready to be painted.

•     Ceiling tile is going in for the first-floor scale-up classroom. The scale-up classroom will have projectors and connectivity to the learning tables in the room.

•     Glass has been installed in the atrium area along the second-floor classrooms and labs.

•     Work has begun on the polished concrete floor on the first floor.

•     Some furniture has arrived for the movable table laboratories on second floor.

•     Ceiling tile is going in on second floor.

•     Workers are completing the casework for the computer cluster on the building's second floor.

•     The white board, electrical cord reels and glass to the atrium have been installed in a second-floor movable table lab.

•     Ceramic tile is being installed in the restrooms on third floor.

•     Data equipment is being installed on third floor.

•     Cabinetry is being installed in the preparation space on third floor.
