Jazz Festival Concert scheduled for Saturday

The NDSU Challey School of music is scheduled to present the Jazz Festival Concert on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. in Festival Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert features nationally acclaimed jazz musicians Nick Finzer and Steve Jennings, who will perform a high-powered concert with the NDSU Jazz Ensemble. Finzer and Jennings are in Fargo working with nine regional high school jazz ensembles as part of NDSU's annual High School Invitational Jazz Festival this weekend.

Finzer is an award-winning composer, arranger and trombonist based in New York. He has toured North America and Europe as part of the pop band, Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox.

Jennings, a drummer, is department head of ensembles at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Minnesota. He records and tours with violin virtuoso Randy Sabien and the electric funky bluegrass-leaning Over and Back Band.
