Christopher Ingraham, a reporter for the Washington Post, is scheduled to give a presentation at NDSU Thursday, April 28, at 4 p.m. in FLC 124. The talk is hosted by the NDSU Department of Criminal Justice and Political Science and sponsored by the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

His presentation, titled “Brain candy: Charting and mapping our way to a smarter civic life,” will discuss applying data-driven journalism to the topics of crime and politics and how data is changing his profession.

Ingraham recently wrote that the Minnesota-North Dakota border, specifically Red Lake County in Minnesota, is the “worst place to live in America” according to the natural amenities index. But after touring the region at the request of local residents, he is leaving the District of Columbia and moving his family here.

There will be time for questions after the talk.

Ingraham has been a data reporter at the Washington Post since 2014. Prior to that, he made data visualizations for the Brookings Institution and the Pew Research Center.
