NDSU faculty members, in conjunction with colleagues at the University of Georgia, are organizing the first International Symposium on Materials from Renewables scheduled for July 19-20 on the NDSU campus. Oral and poster sessions are planned for the Century Theater and Great Plains room in Memorial Union.

The symposium targets research related to renewable materials, including applications in all fields of science and engineering. This year, a special focus will be on renewable polymer synthesis and nanomaterials or nanocomposites from renewable resources. 

Prominent presenters have been invited to deliver their views on making advanced materials from renewable resources. Organizers expect the conference to provide excellent opportunities for students to attend lectures given by top scientists working in their fields, as well as to communicate with invited speakers about their own research topics during conference breaks and the poster session.

The symposium is intended to become an annual event, rotating between the NDSU and UGA campuses. The second symposium is planned for fall 2017 at UGA.

NDSU faculty, staff and students are welcome to participate in the symposium. The Deadline for abstract submission is Monday, May, 2. Deadline for registration is Wednesday, June, 1.

The symposium is co-sponsored by the North Dakota Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, known as ND EPSCoR; United Soybean Board; and the NDSU College of Science and Mathematics and College on Engineering.
