President's Diversity Council launches campus climate assessment

On Feb. 17, the President’s Diversity Council launched a Campus Climate Assessment in an effort to measure progress toward making NDSU a welcoming and inclusive environment for all people. The survey is offered online and President Joseph A. Chapman strongly encourages all members of the campus community to participate. The survey is available at online.survey.psu.edu/ndsu.

The first Campus Climate Assessment was conducted in Spring 2003 and resulted in the development of the NDSU Strategic Plan for Diversity, Equity and Community: 2005-2010. The plan is available in its entirety in the documents section of the Diversity Council Web site at www.ndsu.edu/diversity.

During the past two years, the Diversity Council has been applying the initiatives established in the strategic plan to assess the progress of each department at the university. Many new programs and initiatives have been developed across the university to address the needs of the campus, specifically those highlighted during the first Campus Climate Assessment.

“I am encouraging all members of the NDSU community to take a few moments to complete the Campus Climate Assessment,” Chapman said. “Help us become a university that provides a welcoming and inclusive learning and working environment for all people.”
