Bison softball player named to academic squad

NDSU first baseman Jackie Stifter was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District 6 Softball team.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Stifter, a senior from Winsted, Minnesota, was named to the 2014 Academic All-America third team and Academic All-Districtâ„¢ selection.

A two-time all-Summit League second team selection, Stifter has been recognized as a Distinguished Scholar on the league's winter/spring honor roll.

District 6 is composed of student-athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings and be nominated by her sports information director.
