NDSU is set to host NSF Day at NDSU, a workshop that provides researchers with instruction on competing for National Science Foundation funding for science, engineering and education research. The event, held for the first time in North Dakota, is scheduled Wednesday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Memorial Union.

More than 200 researchers from universities around the region are expected to attend. The daylong workshop gives researchers a behind-the-scenes look at how the National Science Foundation works and how they should submit fundable proposals. More specifically, attendees will learn about the NSF mission, its priorities and budget. Researchers also will receive tips regarding proposal writing, NSF's merit review process and programs that fall within the seven scientific and engineering directorates, as well as funding opportunities that cross disciplinary boundaries.

The NSF is a federal agency created by Congress in 1950 that supports basic research in science and engineering across all disciplines. As a top research university in the country, NDSU is an ideal location for the workshop to teach researchers how to better compete for research dollars that enable their projects.

The workshop is presented by NDSU and the National Science Foundation.
