NDSU lecturer quoted in article about staycations

Albin

Elizabeth Albin, lecturer of hospitality and tourism management, was recently featured in an article for WalletHub.com titled “2016’s Best and Worst Cities for Staycations.”

The article by John S. Kiernan considers communities for families who’d rather stay at home than travel for vacation time. WalletHub used 28 categories to compare the 150 largest cities in the country.

Albin was asked to comment on a variety of questions, including:

• Are staycations a good money-saving idea?

• What activities can families do locally without breaking the bank?

• What is the best time of year to have a staycation?

• How can families assess financially whether they should choose a staycation instead of a vacation?

• Are there any psychological drawbacks to a staycation?

Albin earned her bachelor’s degree at New Mexico State University and her Master of Business Administration at the College of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is a member of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Education and the New Mexico Restaurant Association.
