John K. Cox, professor of history and department head, has been invited by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to participate in a roundtable titled "Issues of East European History in Contemporary U.S. Historiography." The event is scheduled in Minsk, Belarus, in early July.

While in east-central Europe, Cox also is scheduled to present a paper, “The 'First Europe,' Antifascism, and the Reddest Tomatoes: Contested Identity and Regional History in the Balkans,” at the conference “Europe, Nations, and Insecurity: Challenges to Identities." The conference is set for late June in Kaunas, Lithuania, and is co-sponsored by Vytautas Magnus University and the Association for the Study of Nationalism.
