'Gear Up for Grants' seminars planned for March

The Office of Research, Creative Activities and Technology Transfer has planned two “Gear Up for Grants” seminars for March. The seminars are open to all faculty, students and staff (particularly those involved with research and grants.)

"Managing Effort Reporting and Other Grant Issues" is planned for Thursday, March 12, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Hidatsa room. The NDSU Grant and Contract Accounting Office staff will present the event.

In this seminar, presenters will focus on why effort reporting is an extremely important and often overlooked component of sponsored research. Specific discussion points include NDSU’s effort reporting system/process, the effort certification form, the need for timeliness of certification, some do’s and don’ts relating to effort reporting, voluntary cost share and real-world examples of some compliance issues and costs. The seminar is relevant to faculty with grants, faculty and staff hoping to receive grants soon and office staff and students who are in the position of helping to manage grant projects and funds.

"Research and Intellectual Property at NDSU" is planned for Thursday, March 24, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Hidatsa room. The Technology Transfer Office and NDSU Research Foundation staff will present the seminar, which focuses on issues with intellectual property and addresses issues relevant to developing intellectual property as part of a research project at NDSU. The seminar is relevant to NDSU community members who are involved with doing research and making discoveries and innovations.
