'Mathematics of Ecstasy' artist to moderate panel about creativity

Jari Chevalier will moderate a panel about creativity and the creative process in the visual arts and other fields on Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at the Memorial Union Gallery. Chevalier created the exhibit “Mathematics of Ecstasy” that is currently on display at the Union Gallery.

Panelists include Stevie Famulari, assistant professor of landscape architecture; Sean Sather-Wagstaff, assistant professor of mathematics; Dennis Cooley, assistant professor of ethics; and Ann Burnett, director of women's studies.

Chevalier also will speak at a reception on Thursday, April 16, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Union Gallery. The event is free and open to the public. The artist's talk will be at 5:30 p.m. She will speak about her work, its influences, the creative process and how to nourish it. She also will speak to practical aspects of career building as an artist, how to turbo-charge your art practice with mind-body practices, inquiry and intuition. A discussion will follow.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday. The “Mathematics of Ecstasy” exhibit ends on Saturday, April 18.
