Activities are scheduled this week at the NDSU Memorial Union Gallery to “De-stress. Focus. Re/Create.”

Wednesday, April 15, through Friday, April 17, at noon, learn to breathe to de-stress and focus with visiting artist Jari Chevalier.

On Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m., a multidisciplinary panel discussion is planned titled “Simple Facts and Big Questions.” The conversation will explore where we are and what we creatively envision. Moderated by Chevalier, the panel is scheduled to include Ann Burnett, director of women's studies; Dennis Cooley, assistant professor of ethics; Stevie Famulari, assistant professor of architecture and landscape architecture; and Sean Sather-Wagstaff, assistant professor of mathematics.

On Thursday, April 16, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a gallery reception is planned, with Chevalier scheduled to present an artist’s talk at 5:30 p.m. Chevalier's “Mathematics of Ecstasy” exhibit closes on Saturday, April 18, at 5 p.m.

Chevalier's artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including Bristol-Myers Squibb in Wallingford, Conn.; the River Street Gallery, Haskins Laboratory Gallery and Small Space Gallery in New Haven, Conn.; and the Silvermine Gallery in New Canaan, Conn. She is the recipient of residency grants from the Vermont Studio Center and Ragdale Foundation. She earned a master's degree in creative writing from City College of New York and a bachelor’s degree in writing and literature from Columbia University. She has served on the faculty of the State University of New York at Purchase and Antioch University in Santa Barbara.
