Annual student fundraising competition raises more than $4,300 to benefit pre-pharmacy student

Students from two NDSU colleges raised more than $4,300 for a pre-pharmacy student battling health issues.

Ambassadors from the College of Health Professions and the College of Engineering collected $4,374.26 during the seventh annual “Battle of the Cents-es” fundraising event, held Feb. 27-March 3.

All donations collected from the event will support Emily Perrin, a junior majoring in pharmaceutical sciences from Andover, Minnesota. She suffered a brain hemorrhage on Nov. 12. Perrin spent several weeks in a Minneapolis intensive care unit and is now at a St. Paul hospital where she continues to focus on rehabilitation and recovery.

The College of Engineering won the competition. Coins collected during the week counted toward the team’s totals and paper money was deducted from the team’s totals. The College of Engineering collected $403 in paper bills and $1,236.62 in coins for a point total of 833.62. The College of Health Professions collected $970 in paper bills and $544.64 in coins for a point total of minus 425.36. Additional donations were collected to support Perrin, but not included in the competition.
