Student-run restaurant to serve 'comfort food' lunch

NDSU’s 800 Café is scheduled to serve a “Comfort Food” lunch. The meal is set for Thursday, March 23, and Friday, March 24, in the Food Production Complex on the third floor of the Katherine K. Burgum Family Life Center. Seating will be from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The menu for the meal includes:

·      Fresh popped garlic parmesan popcorn appetizer.

·      Sirloin steak delivered fresh from the NDSU meat lab, served on a bed of tomato sautéed Milano sauce.

·      Apricot brown rice walnut stuffing and almond green beans.

·      Chewy berry granola cobbler and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Dietetics students Regina Schimek and Emma Schalow will manage the meal with the help of their classmates.

The cost is $10 per person and includes beverages. Four-meal punch cards are available for $35. Cash or check are acceptable forms of payment.

Walk-ins are welcomed, but reservations are preferred due to limited seating. The café is open to the public and parking is available in NDSU’s visitor lot.

The 800 Café is operated by NDSU dietetic students and will be open for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays through May 5. Sherri Nordstrom Stastny, associate professor of health, nutrition and exercise sciences, is the class instructor.
