Student-athlete named Summit League Scholar-Athlete of the Year

NDSU women’s track and field student-athlete Morgan Milbrath has been selected as the 2016-17 Summit League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a vote of the league’s faculty athletic representatives. The award is the most prestigious individual honor given by the league each season.

Milbrath is the third Bison female student-athlete to earn the distinction and the first since Amy Anderson in 2011-12. Milbrath, who is from Minot, North Dakota, ended her NDSU career as the school record holder in four indoor events and four outdoor events. She was a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier and an 11-time Summit League champion during her career.

Milbrath owns a 3.98 GPA majoring in physical education/health education with a psychology minor. She was named a second team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2017 and is a four-time USTFCCCA All-Academic selection. This year, she was a recipient of NDSU Athletics’ Most Valuable Scholar award and was a six-time Academic All-League (indoor and outdoor) recipient.

She is vice president of the Blue Key Honor Society and Student Athlete Advisory Council at NDSU. She has also volunteered with organizations and events such as the Myron Loberg Kinetic Program, Salvation Army, Fargo Marathon and track and field clinics.
