The next NDSU Biological Sciences Seminar is set to feature Charles B. Fenster, professor of Biology and Microbiology, Agricultural Experiment Station, South Dakota State University, Brookings.

Fenster is scheduled to present “The Natural History of Mutations: Quantifying Mutation Parameters in the Wild with ‘Arabidopsis thaliana’ Mutation Accumulation Lines” on Friday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. in Loftsgard 114. Everyone is welcome.

Fenster is an evolutionary biologist who uses plants as models to quantify the evolutionary process. His research deals with the genetics of adaptation and describing natural selection on floral form and how it contributes to the generation of new species.

Fenster joined SDSU in 2016 after serving on the faculty of the University of Maryland and Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. He previously was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto and a doctoral research assistant at the University of Chicago.
