The NDSU Department of Animal Sciences is scheduled to host the eighth annual Moos, Ewes and More! event on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the NDSU Equine Center, located at 5140 19th Ave. N. The family-friendly event is free.

“Our goal is to reconnect the community with animal agriculture through interactive demonstrations, activities and games for the kids,” Erika Berg, associate professor of animal sciences and Moos, Ewes and More! chair. “We also want to provide people with an opportunity to visit with NDSU farm managers and researchers to learn about how what we do in animal science impacts peoples’ lives daily.”

The event will have a mix of new and old activities, including wagon rides, Kid Alley and canine demonstrations. Participants will have a chance to bottle feed a calf, guess the feedstuffs and see research in action and horsemanship demonstrations.

The first 500 attendees will receive a free “Breakfast on the Farm” featuring beef and egg breakfast burritos, milk and fruit. The North Dakota Beef Commission is sponsoring the breakfast and NDSU’s Carnivore Catering is preparing it.

For more information, contact Berg at erika.berg@ndsu.edu. The event’s website also has information on the 19th Avenue North construction and driving directions to the NDSU Equine Center.
